ISDN switch off should I be worried?

You might have heard BT is switching off ISDN and PSTN networks for good, you’ve probably had numerous cold calls about it, should you be worried?

Here are the facts:

You will no longer be able to order ISDN or PSTN lines from September 2023
ISDN and PSTN networks will turn off between April and December 2025

What do you need to do?
If you have any ISDN / PSTN lines you will need to start thinking about moving them. Firstly, don’t rush into a decision, moving phone systems is far less stress than you would think. You should be looking at switching to SIP trunks with the right provider, it should be a smooth transition, moving numbers to your new lines is a quick and simple process.

It is also a great time to upgrade your phone system, moving to a hosted VOIP system with SIP trunks can cut your call costs by up to 80%.

If your current phone system supports SIP trunks you could even continue using your existing phone system.

With minimal upfront CAPEX, options to rent phones by monthly payments and no lengthy contracts hosted phone systems are the most flexible and cost-effective solution.
